However, many people do not know the meaning behind wearing a ring on a certain finger. Whether that is something you think about or not, here is a look at the symbolism and meaning of each finger which may influence how you choose to wear your rings

Left Pinky: Marital Status and Organized Crime - In the 19th and early 20th centuries, it was popular for men to wear 2 rings on their pinky to represent that they were married. Wearing a ring on your left pinky can also represent mafia connections.

Right Pinky:Professional Status - A ring worn on the right pinky can sometimes represent your professional status. Usually in the fields of ecology and engineering, wearing a ring on the right pinky can symbolize graduating with a degree in the field.

The Ring Finger: The ring finger is thought to be associated with Apollo and symbolizes eternal love, beauty and creativity.

Left Ring Finger:Marriage or Engagement - In most western societies, the left ring finger is reserved for wedding rings, engagement rings or promise rings. It can also be used as a place for chastity rings, but this depends on personal preference.

Right Ring Finger:Marriage or Engagement (in some cultures) - In several other countries, people wear their wedding and engagement rings on their right ring finger. Some countries where this is popular are India, Russia and Germany.

The Middle Finger: The middle finger is not associated with a specific Greek God, but symbolizes responsibility, balance and independence.

Left Middle Finger:No Particular Meaning - Wearing a ring on your left middle finger has no particular meaning. However, since it is your longest finger, it is a great finger to wear a statement ring on.

Right Middle Finger:No Particular Meaning - Wearing a ring on your right middle finger has no particular meaning. However, since it is your longest finger, it is a great finger to wear a statement ring on.

The Index Finger: The index finger is ruled by Jupiter, which symbolizes leadership, ambition and self-confidence.

Left Index Finger:Fashion or Royalty - A ring worn on the left index finger used to be reserved for royalty. As a sign of respect, visitors would kneel down before the King/Queen and kiss the ring. Nowadays, this finger is just used to place fashionable rings.

Right Index Finger:Marriage (in some cultures) - In some cultures, people wear their wedding ring on their right index finger. In traditional Jewish ceremonies, the wedding ring is placed on her right index finger. After the ceremony, the bride has an option to move their ring to their left ring finger.
