How to Determine Your Proper Ring Size
At PaulaMax Jewelry, we sell all of our rings online where customers do not get a chance to try a ring on before purchasing it. However, to help you out, we offer a Ring Size Guide and a step-by-step ring size test to let you determine which size would be best for you!
Prep for Measurement
Before you begin to take measurements, select the finger on which you want to wear your ring. As a side note, the fingers on your dominant hand tend to be larger than those on your non-dominant hand, so keep that in mind when measuring your ring size.
The next step is to ensure that your selected finger is at its normal size before taking a measurement. Cold weather can cause your fingers to shrink a bit, while warmer weather and heat can cause your finger to swell. Water retention caused by food, medications, or illness can also cause your fingers to swell, so make sure that you take that into consideration when selecting your size.
The String or Paper Test
This is a simple ring size measurement test that you can do at home.
-
Take a piece of string, ribbon, thread, or a thin strip of paper and wrap it around your finger, close to the knuckle.
-
With a pen or marker, carefully mark the spot where the string overlaps with its end and either hold it up to a ruler that has millimeter measurement, or to the graphic below.
-
Use the chart to determine your ring size.
-
Repeat this step a few times to get an accurate reading.
* Keep in mind if you prefer looser or tighter fitting rings, you may want to go up or down a half a size depending on preferences.
Use a ruler to measure the diameter of the inside of the ring, then look up the measurement on the chart to find the corresponding ring size.
