June Birthstone Ring : ALEXANDRITE : Stone Of Friday's Child

June Birthstone is Alexandrite

Alexandrite is the birthstone for June. It is an extremely rare gemstone, however, it does not share the ancient history and lore of most other gemstones since it was actually first discovered in the 19th century. Alexandrite is the rare variety of the mineral chrysoberyl that changes color in different lighting. Alexandrite birthstones can show a vivid green to bluish green or an intense red to purplish red depending on the light source.

Alexandrite deposits were first discovered in 1830 in Russia’s Ural Mountains. The gem was named after the young Alexander II, and caught the country’s attention because its red and green colors mirrored the national military color of imperial Russia.

Alexandrite is thought to bring luck, love and good fortune; and in Russia, is considered to be a stone of very good omen. It is believed to bring balance in the interaction between the physical, manifest world and the un-manifest, spiritual world. It opens the crown chakra, bringing one access to the healing energy and love of the universe. This stone is also said to strengthen intuition, creativity and imagination.

Alexandrite can also aid in physical ailments such as those recovering from surgery or a prolonged illness like leukemia, neurological issues and afflictions of the spleen/pancreas.

We can include an Alexandrite stone in any piece of jewelry. Be sure to browse through our collection and get what you need for someone who has a June birthday, anniversary, an honorable moment, or for someone who wants to wear the Stone of Friday's Child all year long!
